Russ Campbell

Screenwriter

Russ Campbell is a screenwriter who got his training at Chapman University’s Top film school. Out of film school, he became the assistant for Chris Philip at Starling Television. 

While at Starlings, Russ moved over to Chris’s development team, contributing to  thedevelopment of Series such as Departure, Pandora and Sherlock & Daughter. He also served as an Executive Producer on Greatest Prison Escapes. 

As a writer, Russ’s screenplay, The Crucified, won the award for Best Original Screenplay at the Big Bear Film Summit in 2023. Before his career in the entertainment industry, Russ Campbell was a former United States Navy Diver who served with SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team One (SDVT-1). During his naval career, he was part of a task force that received two Presidential Unit Citations, and he personally earned the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.

Along with his MFA in Screenwriting from Chapman University, he also holds a Human Biology degree from USC – where he also rowed Men’s Crew.
