Richard A. Morse

Entertainment Attorney

Richard (“Rick”) Morse is a veteran entertainment attorney with over three decades of experience in film legal affairs, as General Counsel for production, production finance, distribution and new media companies while serving as production counsel on a wide slate of independent features and documentaries. Based in Newport Beach, Rick provides comprehensive production legal services from development through delivery, often also acting as executive producer. His recent production counsel and executive producer credits include Gunslinger (Nicolas Cage), Dead Man’s Hand (Cole Hauser), The System (Terrence Howard, Jeremy Piven), and Every Last One of Them (Richard Dreyfuss), along with the award-winning documentary Carol Doda, Topless at the Condor.

Previously as Senior Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs at Radar Pictures, the successor to Interscope Productions, Rick oversaw legal matters for the company known for major productions including The Last Samurai, Mr. Holland’s Opus, Riddick, and The Amityville Horror. During that time, he managed contracts from development through delivery and provided in-house legal counsel on films including Beirut, starring Jon Hamm and Rosamund Pike, and was production counsel on Kickboxer: Vengeance with Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Under the Bed by The Blair Witch Project director Dan Myrick. Additionally, he contributed to the reboots of Jumanji and the launching of The Wheel of Time series during his tenure.

Rick graduated from UC Berkeley and UC Hastings College of the Law (now UC San Francisco Law) with honors. Known for his hands-on, deal-savvy approach, Rick continues to advise filmmakers on all aspects of production legal, financing, and distribution.
