Michael Courtney

With hundreds of hours of television, feature films, and documentaries to his credit, Michael Courtney brings both precision and creative insight to his work across multiple roles.

After earning a double major in International Marketing and Film from the University of San Francisco and the Academy of Art University, he began his career working alongside editor Chris Lebenzon, known for films such as Top Gun. Michael assisted Lebenzon on Tony Scott and Jerry Bruckheimer’s Enemy of the State, an experience that shaped his approach to collaboration and storytelling.

An award-winning editor, Michael has built a reputation as a reliable problem-solver in post-production. His narrative instincts have also led to opportunities as a producer and director in both film and television. In 2014 All3 Media America, gave Michael his own company to develop original series while continuing to edit pilots for the studio and its affiliates. During this time, he pitched to all the cable and streaming networks while he crafted numerous successful projects, including the pilot for CNN’s Emmy Award–winning docu-series United Shades of America with W. Kamau Bell.

Most recently, Michael edited the feature documentary The Kindness Within, which won both “Best Picture” and “Best Documentary” at the 2024 Beverly Hills Film Festival. He currently works with Ambitious Entertainment, a studio that blends premium IP development and production with influencer-driven data, distribution, and monetization.
